NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - Police say an armed, masked man robbed a Newport News bank Thursday afternoon.
According to Lou Thurston with the Newport News Police Department, the robbery occurred at Bayport Credit Union at Denbigh Boulevard and Oriana Road just before 3 p.m.
Thurston said the suspect approached a teller, showed a handgun and demanded money. He left the area on foot when he got an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was injured.
The suspect is described as a black man in his late 20s, standing 5'3" with a small build. At the time, he was wearing a blue jacket, a dark shirt, blue jeans and a mask covering his face.
