VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - A man is in critical condition after he was assaulted by a woman police say stole items from a Virginia Beach shop Wednesday night.
Grazia Moyers with the Virginia Beach Police Department said officers were dispatched to South Beach Gifts located at 1102 Atlantic Ave. for a report of a shoplifting.
A female suspect reportedly concealed merchandise and assaulted a female victim when she was confronted. The suspect then fled the store on foot without paying for the items as two victims chased after her.
Moyers said the victims chased the suspect onto the beach, where she continued to assault both victims. Officers were able to arrive on scene and took the suspect, identified as Angela Marie Quackenbush, 25, of Moseley, Va., into custody.
Quackenbush has been charged with robbery, simple assault and resisting arrest.
One of the victims collapsed after the assault and was transported to a local hospital. He remains in critical, but stable condition at this time.
