VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - A suspect who police say assaulted an officer has turned himself in.
According to Tonya Borman with the Virginia Beach Police Department, an officer came into contact with Stanley Joseph Durkowski, 28, during a traffic stop in the 500 block of West Plantation Road around 2:15 a.m. Tuesday.
The officer and Durkowski struggled, and the officer sustained minor injuries. Borman said Durkowski fled the scene on foot.
Durkowski turned himself in around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. In addition to the felony assault of a police officer for which Durkowski was wanted, he is also charged with resisting arrest.
