NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - A suspect in a Newport News shooting incident Tuesday morning has been arrested for possession of firearm, unrelated to the incident.
According to Harold Eley with the Newport News Police Department, police responded to a shots fired incident in the 700 block of Jefferson Avenue just before 10:30 a.m. A man was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg and is listen in stable condition.
Jamarus Granger, 29, was identified as a suspect and interviewed for the shooting. Although police did not charge him in connection with that incident, they charged him with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The FBI is asking for the public's help to identify the suspects responsible for a string of bank robberies in Chesapeake and Virginia Beach.
