CHOWAN COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) - A 16-year-old student has been charged in a threat against schools in Chowan County unrelated the threats against the schools and bridges Tuesday.
According to the Chowan County Sheriff’s Office, a second threat was made around 7 p.m. by telephone. The investigation led deputies to execute a search warrant at a home in Edenton.
There, evidence found led to the arrest of a John A Holmes High School student. Christopher Freeman, 16, has been charged with making a false report of mass violence on educational property.
He is being held at the Chowan County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
The sheriff’s office said investigators do not believe the threat is connected to the threats that caused the schools to be closed Tuesday.
