PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - Police are looking for two additional suspects after a home invasion that ended with one of the suspects shot Wednesday.
Det. Misty Holley with the Portsmouth Police Department said officers were called to a home in the 3900 block of Long Point Boulevard for a report of a home invasion. There, they found a 29-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the back. Several others were in the home and were not hurt.
According to police, four masked suspects armed with weapons entered the home and tried to rob the victims. One of the victims fired a handgun, hitting the 29-year-old suspect.
Holly said the victims detained a second suspect, a 26-year-old man, until police arrived. He was taken into custody and charged with robbery, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, breaking and entering and conspiracy to commit a felony. His identity is not being released at this time.
The 29-year-old suspect was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for treatment. Holley said he is in critical condition but expected to recover. His identity is also being withheld at this time and charges are pending.
The other two suspects in the case fled the scene before police arrived. Anyone with information on their identities and locations should call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
