VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - A 28-year-old man was indicted Monday on attempted rape and abduction charges for dragging a woman out of her car in June 2012.
According to Grazia Moyers with the Virginia Beach Police Department says Roy Ruiz Loredo was arrested June 25 following reports of multiple sexual assaults that weekend.
Moyers says officers had received three separate calls for sexual assaults in the early morning hours of June 24. The first call came in just before 4 a.m. in the 1600 block of Andrew Jackson Lane, where a victim told police a suspect grabbed her from behind as she walked home and sexually assaulted her close to a park.
Within minutes of that call, a second victim reported being grabbed out of her vehicle in the 1600 block of Independence Boulevard. The victim called 911 as she was being dragged across the parking lot, at which point the suspect ran.
An hour after the first call, a third victim contacted police alleging she was sexually assaulted in the backyard of her home in the 1500 block of Janke Road.
According to Moyers, all three locations were a short distance from each other.
Loredo was also said to have been in the Navy. Court documents reported Loredo had gone AWOL and was subsequently discharged.
The charges Loredo was indicted on Oct. 1 were in connection with the second victim.
Norfolk Police have also charged Loredo with one count of forcible sodomy, one count of attempted forcible sodomy, one count of abduction with the intent to defile and once count of breaking and entering with the intent to rape for a sexual assault in April.
Loredo is due back in court Nov. 19 for a motions hearing.
