FRANKLIN, Va. (WAVY) - A Franklin man charged with the rape of a juvenile last Tuesday evening has now been charged with raping a 48-year-old woman earlier the same day, according to police.
Lt. T.W. Whitt with the Franklin Police Department said officers were called to the 500 block of Washington Street around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 23 for a report of a burglary. There, they learned the suspect had forced entry into a home and sexually assaulted the 48-year-old resident.
During the investigation of the burglary and rape, investigators learned of a second sexual assault victim, a 17-year-old female, who said she was led to the back of an apartment complex and raped.
Tremaine M. Porter, 26, of Franklin, was arrested last Wednesday and charged with the abduction and rape of the young girl.
The following Monday Porter was formally charged with rape, abduction, four counts of sodomy, burglary and grand larceny in the Washington Street incident.
Porter is being held at the Western Tidewater Regional Jail without bond.
Camden County Sheriff Tony Perry said that during the last two weeks, incidents of breaking and entering and home or vehicle larceny have increased in two areas of the county.
