CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) - A man accused of killing his friend's wife in a murder-for-hire plot admitted to stabbing her to death in Chesapeake Thursday.
Marcus Hofferber testified during a preliminary hearing for Cory Abshire. During the hearing, Hofferber said he stabbed Abshire's estranged wife, Rachel, and Abshire offered him $25,000 to kill her.
Rachel Abshire's body was found in her apartment in January. Police arrested both Cory Abshire and Marcus Hofferber just days later.
Hofferber waived his right to a preliminary hearing. His case will go before a grand jury on June 4.
Both were enlisted in the US Navy.
