NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Newport News police are investigating the city's 20th homicideafter an early morning shooting left one man dead and anotherinjured.
Newport News police were called to the 500 blk. of Catina Wayaround 3:23 Wednesday morning. Upon arrival, officers discoveredtwo male shooting victims. One was suffering from multiple gunshotwounds to the upper body and head, while another was suffering froma gunshot wound to the foot.
Both men were transported to Riverside Regional Medical Centerfor treatment. 29-year-old Christian Kendrick Hatch was pronounceddead at the hospital a short time later. The second victim, a19-year-old Newport News man was treated and released.
A preliminary investigation indicates gunfire erupted outsideone of the victims' home, striking both men who were inside.
Suspect information has not yet been released.
