HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) - A woman who sent a man to prison in connection to a false report of a sexual assault has pleaded guilty.
Elizabeth Coast pled guilty to perjury Tuesday morning in a Hampton courtroom. There was no plea agreement.
Johnathon Montgomery spent several years in prison after Coast said he sexually assaulted her outside her grandmother's home when she was just 10. She later recanted her story and Montgomery was freed.
Coast will be sentenced on July 22. She faces up to 10 years in prison.
A company has been hired to complete the repairs to the Herbert C. Bonner Bridge on the Outer Banks, but how long those repairs will take remains unknown.
Drivers traveling between Hatteras Island and the mainland were forced to use an emergency ferry Wednesday, following the sudden closure of the Bonner Bridge Tuesday.
State officials say construction on a new Bonner Bridge has been delayed for years because of a legal battle with an environmental group.
