CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) - Chesapeake Police are looking for a man who fled from police Thursday morning. They have identified him as 31-year-old Andre Powell.
Kelly O'Sullivan with the Chesapeake Police Department said an officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop in the area of Airline Boulevard and Ahoy Drive around 10:10 a.m.
Powell refused to stop and a chase ensued. O'Sullivan said Powell led police into the City of Portsmouth, where the vehicle stopped in the 600 block of Lancer Drive.
According to O'Sullivan, Powell got out of the vehicle and fled on foot, entering and exiting two different apartments. Powell then got into a second vehicle driven by a person known to him and fled.
"A traffic stop. I don't know. He must have had something to hide," said one resident, Tivaris Mack.
Powell is wanted for multiple traffic violations, eluding police, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession with intent to distribute marijuana. Further charges are pending.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.

A disturbing national trend has found it's way into eastern North Carolina. There have been reports of young men punching innocent people -- with the intention of knocking them out -- and the victims never see it coming.
