YORK COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) - Deputies are investigating a break-in at a convenience store in York County Tuesday.
Lt. Dennis Ivey with the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office said someone broke into the Red Barn located on Route 17 sometime in the overnight hours.
Ivey said a window was broken on a door.
Cash, cigarettes and lottery tickets were stolen. Deputies say the suspect cashed in several winning lottery tickets believed to be taken from the Red Barn at a convenience store in Hampton not long after the break-in.
He was captured on the store's surveillance.
Anyone who recognizes the suspect or has any additional information is asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
A company has been hired to complete the repairs to the Herbert C. Bonner Bridge on the Outer Banks, but how long those repairs will take remains unknown.
Drivers traveling between Hatteras Island and the mainland were forced to use an emergency ferry Wednesday, following the sudden closure of the Bonner Bridge Tuesday.
State officials say construction on a new Bonner Bridge has been delayed for years because of a legal battle with an environmental group.
