VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Three people have been indicted on charges of trying to sell women as ‘sex slaves’ on Craigslist.
On May 15, investigators with the Virginia Beach Police Department came across an ad on Craigslist offering to sell a woman as a ‘sex slave’ for $10,000, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said. They responded, and an undercover officer spoke with Prince Lee, 20, of New York.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office said a deal was made to sell three women for $225,000. An agreement was made to meet in Virginia Beach on June 1.
According to investigators, Lee and Henry Olson, 21, of New York recruited a 30-year-old woman to ‘hang out with a friend’ of Lee’s in Virginia. She was told she would make $10,000 and after persuasion, agreed.
Lee and a third defendant, Arielle Pierre, 21, of New York, recruited a second woman to also spend a few hours with the man in Virginia.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office said neither woman knew they were being ‘sold’ to the man.'
The three defendants and two others drove with the women from New York and arrived in Virginia Beach on June 1. Virginia Beach officers observed Lee and Pierre yelling at and grabbing the second victim in an attempt to force her to stay. Investigators say the woman ran into a nearby hotel and was hidden in a back room by hotel employees.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office said the first woman was also threatened if she did not comply.
That afternoon, the defendants were arrested and charged with conspiracy, transportation for prostitution and coercion and enticement.
