NORFOLK, Va. - At Chrysler Museum of Art voters paint their own picture of whothey'd like to see in office.
"I've been a democrat since birth," said Joan Damsey, a die-hardDemocrat. Damsey believes low voter turn out is even more of areason to cast a ballot if you want to win in November.
"Bob McDonnell, who's a fine person, is from this area so youhad to pick someone who could beat him," Damsey said.
The turnout was low. 32 voters an hour showed up at themuseum in Portsmouth. There were 22 at John Tyler Elementaryschool.
It's still better than what many expected and still a reasonto vote.
"One vote can make a difference," said one woman.
With State Senator Creigh Deeds, Terry McAuliffe and Brian Moransharing relatively the same views - except for off shore drillingand energy - voters looked for the one thing that would make theircandidate stand out.
"I tried to pay as much attention to the differentcommercials and what not. And I did a little research and was ableto make a decision," said Larry Gump.
State officials say construction on a new Bonner Bridge has been delayed for years because of a legal battle with an environmental group.
The Coast Guard transported two people off Hatteras Island early Thursday morning following the sudden closure of the Herbert C. Bonner Bridge Tuesday.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation says dredging beneath the Herbert C. Bonner Bridge will likely begin Friday afternoon.
