JOINT BASE LANGLEY-EUSTIS, Va. (WAVY) - After a nearly six-month deployment, members of the 27th Fighter Squadron returned to Langley Air Force Base Wednesday. Between 200 and 250 pilots were deployed to Kadena Air Base in Japan.
Family and friends were waiting to greet their loved ones.
The members of the 27th Fighter Squadron were assigned to U.S. Pacific Command as part of the unit’s Theater Security Package rotation, providing security.
Also known as the “Fightin’ Eagles,” the 27th Fighter Squadron is the oldest active fighter squadron in the U.S. Air Force.
