FREEPORT, Texas (NBC/USCG) - A U.S. Coast Guard crew rescued 12 people after their catamaran sank about 15 miles off the Texas shore.
The 60-foot catamaran "Reefman" began taking on water around 9 a.m. Tuesday and sank shortly after.
When the Coast Guard helicopter arrived on the scene, it discovered people in life jackets floating in the water.
A rescue swimmer jumped in from the chopper to stay with them until a Coast Guard response boat arrived.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
