DETROIT (AP) - Former Detroit Tigers infielder Doug Baker is selling his 1984 World Series ring on eBay for $5,000.
The 48-year-old Baker, who lives north of San Diego, says he's selling his original ring that was stolen and later found because he has a replacement.
Baker was a rookie role player on the 1984 Tigers, who went 35-5 to start the season and clinched the title by beating the San Diego Padres in five games. He also has World Series rings as a scout for the Florida Marlins and Chicago White Sox.
Baker tells The Detroit News that he wears his replacement ring with pride -- but "only on special occasions."
As of Thursday morning, no bids had been placed on the 10K gold ring that features a round diamond. The auction ends Friday.
