LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. (AP) - Alex Rodriguez's 500th career home run ball and a signature-model Louisville Slugger bat used by Walter Johnson highlight SCP Auctions' first Internet auction of the year.
The auction will end Feb. 4.
Rodriguez hit his 500th homer on Aug. 4, 2007 at Yankee Stadium to become the youngest player in major league history to reach the milestone. The ball has been authenticated and affixed with a numbered hologram by MLB officials. It includes a detailed letter of provenance from the consigner who caught the ball.
The Johnson bat is one of three examples known to exist that were used by the man many regard as the greatest pitcher in baseball history.
