Nina was worn out, but not injured

NEW YORK (CNN/WABC) - A dog made a dramatic escape from a Continental Airlines plane after it landed at New York's LaGuardia Airport.

During a flight from Houston to New York, Nina, a 105 pound show dog, managed to bite her way out of her cage.  But the real drama began once the jet landed.

When baggage handlers opened the cargo door, Nina leaped out of the plane and bolted across the runway.

She eventually jumped into Flushing Bay. The Harbor Patrol managed to get the dog safely out of the water and reunite Nina with her owner.

"I want to just get her out. Make sure she's all right and get her running around. She's been cooped up since 6:30 this morning. I want to feed her, make sure she's all right, you know. Cause it's a lot of stress for her. It would stress for any of us," said Joe Donofrio, the dog's owner.

Nina spent 40 minutes in the water before officials were able to rescue her from the bay. She's a little worn out, but wasn't hurt.
