CHELYABINSK REGION, Russia (NBC/RTV) - Meteorites have sparked a rush in Russia.
The meteor that exploded spectacularly over Russia's Ural Mountains earlier this month has set off a rush to find fragments that hunters hope could be worth thousands of dollars a piece.
Combing through fields, hunters sometimes equipped with metal detectors look for tell-tale holes in the snow.
Scientists at the Urals Federal University were the first to announce a significant find: 53 small objects which tests confirmed were small meteorites.
