INDIANAPOLIS - How are you celebrating 11/11/11? This date only comes around every 100 years, so make sure to do it up right and crank it up to 11!

One louder

Fans world-wide have gathered together across the Internet to celebrate Nigel Tufnel day. And who wouldn’t want to give this icon of rock, this hero of heavy metal, this god of thunder his own day. So join me in honoring one of the greatest – Nigel Tufnel. See this outtake and his explanation of why his amps, "Go up to 11."

A little background on Tufnel

For the layman, Nigel Tufnel is the fictional guitarist played by Christopher Guest in the 1984 mockumentary “This Is Spinal Tap.” Along with lead singer David St. Hubbins, played by Michael McKean, and bassist Derek Smalls, played Harry Shearer, the British rock trio sets out to conquer America in a tongue-in-cheek commentary on the glamorous lives of rock legends.

For the audiophile, NPR has a great piece reviewing the music stylings of Spinal Tap.

11/11/11: End of the World?

According to some rumors flying around the web, 11/11/11 has links to the end of the Mayan calendar. Make sure to stock up on bottled water and canned goods.

11/11/11

Pocky!

11/11/11 is also Pocky Day in Japan. If you aren’t with familiar with Pocky, it is a crispy, thin bread stick dipped in chocolate or some other flavored candy. And apparently it requires insane commericals to promote it. All I can say is domo arigato, Mr. Pocky.

And apparently, Pocky fights off zombies!

However you decide to spend 11/11/11, don't forget it goes to ELEVEN.

Don't forget! NYAN CAT says: You will follow Twinkle on Twitter. You will follow Twinkle on Tumblr . You will smile and return next week for another Get Wired.
