Vader's Dark Side Roast Coffee, anyone?

INDIANAPOLIS (LIN) - "Merchandising, merchandising, where the real money from the movie is made." When Mel Brooks spoke those words as Yogurt in the hit spoof "Spaceballs," he was right on the money. And perhaps no one in Hollywood has done that better than George Lucas.

As yet another version of Lucas's "Star Wars" saga hits the home video market, this time on Blu-ray , shoppers are reminded once again of the power of movie merchandising. Since 1977, shoppers have been inundated with thousands upon thousands of items inspired by the Lucas empire. T-shirts? Check. Pringles? Check. Coffee? Yes, even coffee.

Here is a look at some strange/offbeat merchandising efforts from a galaxy not so far, far away.

Vader's Dark Side Roast Coffee

Yeah... like Vader needs a reason to be caffeinated. Still, the folks at ThinkGeek, creating "stuff for the smart masses," are enticing web shoppers to sample the dark lord's brew. Personally, it doesn't get much better than seeing Darth Vader in a tie while holding an "INITECH" coffee mug from "Office Space."

Other amusing "Star Wars" offerings from Think Geek include Han Solo in Carbonite Ice Cube Tray and the Tauntaun Sleeping Bag .

C-3PO's

In the 1980s, Kellogg's tried to make "Star Wars" cereal exciting. If they were going for exciting, they probably should have picked Han Solo for a cereal star, and something more adventurous than a Cheerios-inspired ripoff.

And Threepio can't get a break with this bit of merchandise named "The Most Awkward" ever.

Harrison Ford = The Freshmaker

Sure, this commercial was made by a fan and Han Solo never sold out to Mentos, but still, this is pretty funny.

Jabba the Hutt Inflatable Costume

If you're looking for Halloween costume ideas, the "Star Wars" universe has a galaxy full of options. Some are cute . Some are sexy . And some, well, are this:
