NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - 10 On Your Side checked back with an Ocean View family whose home was flooded by Hurricane Sandy.
The Davenports' Ocean View residence had a foot of standing water in it Monday, and when WAVY returned to see how the couple were doing after the storm, uncovered no agencies had stepped in to help the family yet.
10 On Your Side contacted the American Red Cross to help the Davenports, whose bedroom and mattress were ruined by the water. After establishing contact with the family, the Red Cross was able to provide help.
Rob Shapiro with the Red Cross said the organization knocked on doors of homes that had been reported to them, meaning members of the organization only go where they are needed.
You can contact the local Red Cross at 757-536-9859.
