More than 375K mid-Atlantic outages

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - Crews are working to restore power to more than 375,000 people in Maryland, Delaware, the District of Columbia and northern Virginia after some of the worst winds from former Hurricane Sandy swept through the mid-Atlantic region.

On the Eastern Shore, Delmarva Power was reporting 64,000 outages in Maryland and Delaware.

In the Washington area, Pepco was reporting about 21,000 outages Tuesday morning. Montgomery County was hardest hit with about 16,600 customers without power.

In northern Virginia, Dominion Virginia Power is reporting about 101,000 customers are without power Tuesday morning. That includes thousands of outages in Arlington, Alexandria and Fairfax County.

Dominion will get assistance from 2,000 crews that are arriving in Virginia to help with the anticipated outages.
