DRIVER, Va. - In a single moment everything changed, with the push of a button.

WAVY-TV and FOX 43 began exclusively broadcasting in digital on Friday, June 12 at 9 a.m.

"Huge Day, years in the making. We switched off our analog signals on WAVY and FOX 43 today and I think the thing I'm most pleased about is I think we did the best job we could over the past several months to help viewers get ready," said President and General Manager Doug Davis.

The transition started back in the 1990's.

"WAVY-DT went on the air in March of 2001. We have been on the air in digital ever since. We've gone to standard definition and now we're high definition, all through the same transmitter," Transmitter Supervisoer Charles Stutsman explained.

The digital signal means the picture and sound quality on your television will be better.

LIN Television Director of Engineering Les Garrenton says the change will benefit all users. "It looks much sharper and crisper and more colorful than anything we had before. So that's the real benefit - the quality of the service - the absence of ghosts and noise in the picture."
