NORFOLK, Va. - Forced to relocate or reschedule the Afr'Am Festival after construction closed off Town Point Park on Memorial Day weekend, organizers pushed the celebration back.
The festival has always kicked off the summer events at the waterside park in Norfolk, but renovations to the area closed off the park until Independence Day weekend.
Plans to move the festival to Norfolk State University fell apart because of traffic concerns in the area. Instead, organizers decided to push the festival back to Labor Day weekend and keep it at Town Point Park. The festival will run September 4, 5, and 6, ending Sunday night.
