Flood warning issued for areas in HR

ISLE OF WIGHT, Va. (WAVY) - Due to elevated water levels from Tuesday's storms, a flood warning has been issued until 11:30 p.m. for the western portion of Hampton Roads.

The flood warning is in effect for Isle of Wight County, Southampton County, Franklin and Suffolk.

Heavy rain and strong thunderstorms caused flooding across the Hampton Roads area Tuesday night, and the Virginia Department of Transportation has closed the following roads.

Isle of Wight County:

Burdette Rd. is closed due to flooding.

Joyners Bridge Rd. is covered with fast moving water several inches deep. VDOT is expected to evaluate.

Jones Town Rd. is closed due to water.

Buckhorn Dr. has only one lane open at Weatherville Ln. Four Square Rd. near Magnet Dr. has standing water on the roadway. Great Spring Rd. is one lane in one location due to water.

In Franklin:

On Rt. 612 East (Rivers Mill Rd) in the County of Southampton, in the vicinity of Fortsville Rd; Rt. 659N/S (Southampton County), motorists can expect potential delays due to standing water.

On Rt. 647 North (River Rd) in the County of Southampton, in the vicinity of Barn Tavern Rd; Rt. 719E/W (Southampton County), motorists can expect potential delays due to standing water.

On Rt. 653 South in the County of Southampton, in the vicinity of Carys Bridge Rd; Popes Station Rd; Rt. 609E/W (Southampton County), motorists can expect potential delays due to standing water.
