NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - Virginia Natural Gas has repaired a gas line at the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and Middle Ground Boulevard in Newport News.

Northbound traffic on Jefferson Avenue in that area was down to one lane and was supposed to reopen Thursday, Feb. 14. Instead, the work was extended through Thursday and was expected to reopen Friday, Feb. 15 by midday.

The road reopened before 11 a.m. Friday.

Virginia Natural Gas says there was no safety hazard.
