CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) - A dump truck spilled its load of mud on a Chesapeake roadway Friday morning, forcing a closure.
According to the Virginia Department of Transportation, the spill occurred along Route 168 Bypass southbound before the Mt. Pleasant Road exit. Elizabeth Vaughn with the City of Chesapeake said the spill was just north of the bridge over the Chesapeake and Albemarle Canal.
Karen Meyers with VDOT said at 11 a.m. the roadway was expected to be closed for about two hours as crews worked to clean up the spill. Motorists were asked to use Battlefield Boulevard through Great Bridge as an alternate route.
The road reopened before 1 p.m.
