INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The two Super Bowl quarterbacks are in Indianapolis and had dinner at the same time in the same downtown restaurant Monday night.
In a 24-Hour News 8 exclusive, cameras caught New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning and his teammates walking from their hotel to have dinner at St. Elmo Steak House just after landing in Indianapolis. Manning shook hands with a fan on the way in.
St. Elmo, known worldwide for its steak and shrimp cocktails, is booked all week.
"We are fully committed through Sunday,” owner Craig Huge said. “There are no reservations available."
Huse says the demand became unbelievable once the Super Bowl teams were announced. Team owners like Jerry Jones and Jim Irsay book at the popular steak house and one reservation is for 60 people.
The restaurant has ordered "three times the amount of food, 600 pounds of shrimp every day, three times the steak, three times the volume of everything,” Huse said.
Down the street at the Canterbury the hotel is sold out and the restaurant and bar booked with private parties.
"We have celebrities checking in," Starr Peterson of the Canterbury Hotel says. She declined to name names but did say, "We've been turning away guests for six months and especially since the teams were announced — a lot of calls begging and pleading for rooms, willing to pay an enormous amount of money."
The rooms are going for $1,500 to $5,000.
If you are still looking for a reservation, Palamino downtown may be one of your better options. The manager confirms they are only reserving a portion of the restaurant, purposely leaving it open to those walking in off the street.
The Ram is not taking any reservations but last Saturday they had done an entire day’s business before dinner at 5 p.m.
