VIRGINIA BACH, Va. (WAVY) - Taquan Mizzell, senior running back at Bayside High School in Virginia Beach is the player to watch this upcoming season.
Last year, Mizzell gained more than 1,000 yards and scored 23 touchdowns while playing on a sprained ankle.
Andy Hilton, the high school football expert that runs the recruit757.com says Mizzell is the most impressive player in the country this summer at camps and combines.
On Monday Rivals.com, the national recruiting service, named him a five-star recruit, and ranked him as the 20th best high school player in America and also the 4th best running back in the country.
Mizzell has narrowed his college choices down to the University of Virginia and the University of West Virginia. He announced Tuesday afternoon he was staying in state and going with U.Va.
"I really believe in Coach Mike London and what they are doing there in Charlottesville. He wants to make his players better athletes and better people," said Mizzell after he made his announcement.
