Harlem Globetrotters come to Norfolk

Norfolk, Va. (WAVY) - They've been making memories like this for more then 85 years. The Harlem Globetrotters are getting ready for their show in two weeks for Hampton Roads Hoops fans.

Anthony Blakes, or Buckets, as he known to fans when he is out on the court, spent this week making stops and spins all over Norfolk.

First stopping at Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters.

"Those are the experiences and memories you'll never forget," said Blakes

Next stop, Y-Not Pizza, trying his basketball moves behind the counter. On the menu a personal pizza made by Buckets himself.  Usually he's the guy giving the lessons, instead he's hoping his athletic ability will help him do this (spinning the dough) and learning from Michael Reyes who's been spinning dough for 4 years.

"Throwing dough for thee kids and seeing them smile it really makes my day," said Michael Reyes who's worked at the Colley Avenue Pizza shop for the last four years.

While he might not have perfected the art of spinning in the kitchen. Regardless Blakes said these are the moments that make the Globetrotter tradition unforgettable.

"I hope when I retire people are telling stories about how I met Buckets in Y-Not in Virginia you just want to make memories," said Blakes.

The Globetrotters play March 2 & 3 at the TED in Norfolk.
