VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Local major league baseball players continue to demand the big bucks.
Mark Reynolds from Virginia Beach is saying goodbye to the Baltimore Orioles and is taking his talents to Cleveland.
While they continue to pursue Yankees outfielder Nick Swisher, the Cleveland Indians Thursday night signed infielder Mark Reynolds to a one-year contract worth $6 million, with a chance to make another $1.5 million if he meets certain performance benchmarks.
Reynolds, a 29-year-old right-hander, spent the past two seasons with the Orioles, playing first base.
He had 26 doubles, 23 home runs and 69 RBI's. Reynolds hit nine home runs and drove in 17 runs during a nine-game stretch in early September.
