PHOEBUS, Va. (WAVY) - The celebration continued Monday at Phoebus High School , where the Phantoms celebrated their fourth state championship. The Phantoms have won the title four years in a row.
A four-peat has only been accomplished once before by nearby Hampton High School in the 90s.
This year's win marks the fifth championship in six years for Phoebus and seventh win in the past 10 years.
After losing the first game of the season to a nationally ranked team in Baltimore, Oscar Smith High School went on to win 14 straight games, giving Coach Richard Morgan and his staff their second state championship in four years.
Oscar Smith quarterback J.J. Williamson, who is heading to Hampton University next year, threw for 240 yards and two touchdowns.
Running back J.C. Coleman, who will attend Virginia Tech next fall, capped his high school career with three touchdowns.
Linebacker Rhakeem Stallings, who will play for James Madison University , anchored the Tigers defense with nine tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble.
