NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - ODU senior Nick Wright (Suffolk, VA.) scored 16 points, but visiting Richmond defeated the Monarchs, 80-53 Tuesday night at the Ted Constant Convocation Center.  UR (7-2) was led by Cedrick Lindsay with 19 points.

The win was the first ever for the Spiders in the Constant Center and their first win against ODU

in Norfolk since  beating the Monarchs, 77-73 in double overtime in 2000-01 at Scope. The 27-point
defeat was the largest in the Constant Center.

Joining Lindsay in double figures were Greg Robbins and Darien Brothers with 14 points each.

Richmond shot .574 (31-54) for the game while the Monarchs shot .317 (19-60).  The Spiders led throughout the contest.

Lindsay was eight-for-11 from the field, while Brothers was five-of-seven and Robbins was six-for-
nine from the floor.

The Monarchs (1-7) outrebounded the Spiders, 37-34 as senior DeShawn Painter (Norfolk, VA.) led with a game high 10 boards to go along with eight points, followed by red-shirt sophomore forward Richard Ross (Wichita Falls, TX.) with six.  Alonz Nelson-Ododa led Richmond with eight.

Dimitri Batten led ODU with four assists, while freshman Keenan Palmore came up with three of ODU’s
nine steals.

The Monarchs return to action on Friday night when they play arch rival VCU at 9 p.m. in another NBC
Sports Network telecast.
