RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- Shelton Haskins' follow-up with 1.3 seconds left Friday night brought I.C. Norcom a 55-54 comeback win over Petersburg for the Group AAA boys' state championship.
In winning their first state title, the Greyhounds (25-4) stopped the Crimson Wave (29-1) from their first undefeated season since Moses Malone led them to consecutive state titles in 1973 and 1974.
The Crimson Wave led 48-38 with 6:22 left before Jeremy Canty scored seven points in 2:12 to cut the lead to 50-49.
Petersburg, which missed 17 of 30 free throw attempts, took its last lead with 7.2 seconds left when Kevin Green hit one of two free throw attempts.
Dorian Finney-Smith led the Greyhounds with 17 points, 16 rebounds and five blocks. Canty added 15 points and James Theus 14.
Du'Vaughn Maxwell led the Crimson Wave with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Frank Mason had 12 points.
Despite going 7:24 without a field goal, Petersburg had a 24-21 halftime lead. Tyre Desmore's trey gave the Crimson Wave a 17-15 lead with 2:20 left and Norcom could get no closer than one as Frank Mason's layup with 1.5 seconds left gave Petersburg a 24-21 lead.
