PINE BLUFF, Ark. (AP) — Tevin Hammond made a 3-pointer after Jackson State was assessed a late technical foul, and Arkansas-Pine Bluff beat the Tigers 73-72 Monday night. Regulation time had expired, but a second was put back on the clock after the technical against Jackson State's bench.

ITTA BENA, Miss. (AP) — Davon Usher scored 31 points as Mississippi Valley State turned in its best offensive performance of the season, downing winless Grambling State 90-68 Monday night in Southwestern Athletic Conference action. Usher hit 12 of 19 from the floor and 4 of 8 from deep.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The New Orleans Saints have hired Wesley McGriff as secondary coach. Coach Sean Payton announced the move Monday. McGriff comes to the Saints after serving as co-defensive coordinator and cornerbacks coach at the University of Mississippi last season.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — With Danica Patrick starting from the pole, the Daytona 500's preliminary television ratings are much higher than last year's. Sunday afternoon's race earned a 10.0 overnight rating and 22 share on Fox. That's up 30 percent from 2012, when rain pushed the event to a Monday night.
