INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Punter Pat McAfee will be staying with the Indianapolis Colts, regardless of whether he reaches a long-term contract. The Colts announced they've given him the franchise tag. That means he'll be paid $2.977 million this season if he doesn't reach a contract. McAfee was fifth in the league with a 47.9 year punting average.
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) — Manti Te'o is working to improve his 40-yard dash time before his pro day. The Notre Dame star and Heisman Trophy runner-up was clocked at a disappointing 4.82 seconds at the NFL scouting combine last week. Te'o yesterday received the Maxwell Football Club's Maxwell Award for collegiate player of the year and Chuck Bednarik Award for collegiate defensive player of the year.
RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — It'll be a Final Four rematch, this time with the Atlantic 10 Conference title implications on the line. VCU and Butler have seemingly been linked since Shaka Smart and the Rams met Brad Stevens and the Bulldogs in the most unlikely of Final Four matchups two years ago. Today, they're meeting again. VCU is second in the A-10 standings and a game ahead of Butler.
