NORFOLK, Va. - People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, or PETA, wants suspended quarterback Michael Vick to submit to a psychological exam before he can return to the NFL.
PETA spokesperson Caleb Wheeldon told WAVY.com, the organization wants NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to "require Vick to undergo a full psychological evaluation including an MRI and some other testing as a pre-condition for any possible re-instatement."
According to Wheeldon, PETA wants to see if Vick is truly remorseful for his action in a multi-state dogfighting ring. Wheeldon also says many young people consider Vick a role model, but admits Vick has a responsibility too.
"PETA's willing to give Michael Vick a second chance if he can prove his remorse and tacitly support a re-introduction into the NFL," Wheeldon said.
