In 2001, this video was made famous. It's Hampton University's David Johnson picking up Coach Steve Merfeld after their unlikely victory over the number 2 seeded team, Iowa State. Johnson, currently a professional basketball player overseas, has come a long way from his basketball beginnings.

Johnson got his professional start in 2002, playing for the World Basketball Association. He has since played for Mexico, Turkey, and possibly Germany next season. But the life of an overseas player can be a little tougher than the life of an NBA player, he says.

During the 5 months when Johnson isn't playing he devotes his time to helping kids develop into basketball players. Johnson says its important for him to spend time with young athletes as they work hard to improve and become better ball players.

And his best advice for young kids? Never give up.

For David Johnson, life is more than just playing basketball, its about sharing his passion with future generations.
