CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) - Delmon Williams completed 13 of 15 passes for 160 yards and two touchdowns, and Lake Taylor's defense held off Stone Bridge's late-game charge for a 20-14 victory in the Group AAA Division 5 championship game at the University of Virginia.
The Titans completed an unbeaten season at 15-0 Saturday, winning the school's first football state championship since opening in 1967. Lake Taylor is the first Norfolk state champion since Granby in 1966 and was appearing in the program's first state final since 1982.
Williams threw a 68-yard touchdown pass to Ja'Kale Pinkney and a 19-yarder to Nhyre Quinerly to give Lake Taylor a 14-0 halftime lead.
Stone Bridge (14-1) drove to the Lake Taylor 20-yard line in the final minute, but Brandon Simmons forced a fumble and Lake Taylor recovered.
