2-1 in Vegas

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - The Lady Monarchs basketball team is feeling pretty good this Christmas. If Head Coach Karen Barefoot's team wants a chance to dance, they'll need an at large bid.

With ODU making the move to Conference USA the Lady Monarchs aren't eligible to win the CAA.

The Lady Monarchs are off to an 8 and 2 start and just got back from a tournament in Vegas, where they finished 2-1.  The loss came to top 25 ranked Texas A & M.

"I like the way this team fights," said Head Coach Karen Barefoot.

"We did a lot of weight training in the off season and changed out diet," said senior guard Jackie Cook.

The Monarchs play South Carolina State this Saturday.
