ATLANTA (WAVY) - The Braves have reached an agreement to acquire Chesapeake native Justin Upton, who will join his brother on the roster, according to MLB.
MLB.com reports the Braves will acquire Upton as well as Chris Johnson in exchange for Martin Padro, Nick Ahmed, Brandon Drury, Randall Delgado and Zeke Spruill.
Upton’s older brother, B.J., signed with the Braves in November.
“Atlanta’s projected outfield over at least the next three seasons will consist of Jason Heyward and the two Upton brothers,” MLB.com reported.
Justin is a graduate of Great Bridge High School in Chesapeake, while B.J. attended Greenbrier Christian Academy. Justin has hit a .278 with 108 home runs since his major league debut.
MLB.com says the deal is pending the completion of physicals.
