Cuddyer ready for Spring Training

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) - With one week left before leaving for spring training, Colorado Rockies outfielder Michael Cuddyer has been busy. He hits seven days a week at 7 Cities Sports and most of the time its alongside his son Casey who with each passing day learns more and more about his father's profession.

"After games he can come into the clubhouse. He knows everybody's names, their walk up songs, their stances, it's a lot of fun," said Cuddyer.

But now Casey is a big brother to twin sisters who joined the family last year.

"I have the greatest wife in the world who takes care of these three while I'm out living my dream," said Cuddyer with his son sitting next to him.

Make no mistake, its still a game for the former Great Bridge star. It's also his job.

"It is a profession. When you're on the road and you're ten games in with four games to go and your missing your family, no question it's a profession," said Cuddyer.

After spending all of his professional career with the Minnesota Twins, Cuddyer signed last season with Colorado. He suffered an oblique injury and missed two months of the season.

"It was a tough year. I'm at the point in my career where I judge myself on team results. I'm past all the individual accolades."

He'll leave in a just a couple weeks for spring training.
