NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - After 12 years with the program, Blaine Taylor has been terminated from his position as Old Dominion University men's basketball coach.
Coach Taylor had two years left in his contract with ODU.
The announcement came one day after the Monarchs suffered their 10th consecutive loss. The Monarchs, with a record of 2-20, are seeing their worst season under Taylor.
ODU Athletic Director Dr. Wood Selig announced the termination during a news conference Tuesday afternoon.

"This decision is not based solely on wins and losses, but on a number of factors by which a head coach is evaluated," Selig said. "At this point, in regard to our head men’s basketball coach, our student athletes need mentorship, leadership and guidance. Our fans and alumni need encouragement. Our administration needs confidence in our leadership."
Selig appointed Assistant Head Coach Jim Corrigan as interim head coach through the remainder of the 2012-2013 season.
Taylor is the winningest coach in Old Dominion history, with eight straight national post-season appearances, including four trips to the NCAA Tournament.
Taylor was one of only two CAA coaches to win back-to-back CAA championships.
