Philip-Michael Devos’ fourth goal of the season and 17 saves by Dustin Tokarski proved to be enough as the Norfolk Admirals (28-18-1-2) shut out the Adirondack Phantoms (22-23-1-1), 2-0, on Friday night at Norfolk Scope. The Admirals and Phantoms face off again tomorrow night at Scope.
Pierre-Cedric Labrie scored his ninth goal of the season while Cory Conacher picked up a pair of assists. The victory was Tokarski’s 20 th victory of the season and his third shutout on the campaign.
After a scoreless opening period, Devos gave the Admirals a 1-0 lead less than four minutes into the second period. Conacher sent a pass from the high slot to Devos at the top of the right faceoff circle. Devos quickly fired a shot over the glove of Phantoms netminder Michael Leighton at 3:35.
Labrie capped off the scoring with an empty net at 18:38 of the final period.
Dustin Tokarski (20-11-0) turned aside all 17 shots he faced in the victory. Phantoms goaltender Michael Leighton (16-17-0) allowed one goal on 27 shots in defeat.
Neither team had a power play opportunity in the contest.
The Admirals and Phantoms meet for the final time at Scope in the regular season tomorrow night with puck drop set for 7:15 p.m.
