Two found dead along dirt path in NC

PREVIOUS COVERAGE - Law enforcement agencies from seven jurisdictions are now involved in the investigation into the murder of two sisters from Emporia, whose mutilated bodies were found near Murfreesboro, N.C.

The two women killed were 74-year-old Dorothy Hobbs and 71-year-old Nellie Bradley. They were found along a dirt path at the edge of some woods.

A local resident spotted the bodies of the two women Friday evening. The women were stabbed in the chest, throat and face.

The sheriff says he believes they were murdered somewhere else and dumped on the path. Investigators do not believe the victims knew their killer.

The Hertford County Sheriff's Department is a small department, so they have called in the N.C. State Bureau of Investigations to help with the murder investigation. Once the cross-state connection was made, more agencies became involved.
