At WAVY News 10, we receive hundreds of letters, telephone calls and e-mails a week from people with consumer problems. While some disputes require the full resources of the 10 On Your Side team, others can be resolved with a simple phone call. We are happy to provide a list of useful phone numbers on the 10 On Your Side webpage .
If you have a consumer problem that is not covered by one of the agencies listed, or if you have contacted an organization but did not receive a satisfactory result, please contact WAVY News 10 and the 10 On Your Side team. Please feel free to use our online form that will get e-mailed directly to us.
When contacting 10 On Your Side, please outline your specific complaint and include as much detail as possible. In some cases we may need additional documentation to support your situation. If after contacting us we request additional documentation please do not send the original documentation, please send us copies of whatever you have and send it to the address listed below:

To help you understand and better negotiate the process, "10 On Your Side" would like to explain a few things about how we handle complaints.
"10 On Your Side" DOES NOT ACCEPT COMPLAINTS BY UNSOLICITED FAX. The ONLY material which should be submitted via fax are 1) any supporting documentation that we have requested from you, 2) self-explanatory story suggestions and 3) information that does not require documentation or needs to be researched or verified. If you do send information via fax please provide all background information and contact name/telephone number(S) so that we can reach you if needed.
All complaints should be received via the online form . Please send us a letter ONLY IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO THE INTERNET OR E-MAIL. IN THE CASE OF AN EMERGENCY, BREAKING NEWS, IF SOMEONE'S HEALTH OR SAFETY IS IN JEOPARDY, OR IF YOU HAVE A NEWS TIP REQUIRING AN IMMEDIATE RESPONSE, DIAL OUR ASSIGNMENT DESK: (757) 396-6181.
We try to respond to all e-mails and online form inquiries within 24 hours. If you contact us by mail, we due our best to respond within a week or two.
Make no mistake: we conduct thorough, detailed, painstaking research on every single story we consider, to ensure accuracy and fairness. Complaints from viewers who do not have legitimate, verifiable claims consume precious time and effort unnecessarily, and delay our staff in attempting to pursue valid complaints.
It is WAVY-TV policy to attempt not to disrupt the operations of the civil and criminal justice system. In most cases, we do not have the authority, resources or access to information required to take a direct role in investigating allegations of wrongful conviction or imprisonment; false arrest; domestic disputes; or child custody.
If you believe your civil rights have been violated, contact the American Civil Liberties Union:

WAVY-TV is always interested in being informed about the progress of newsworthy cases, and would consider them for potential news coverage. It is usually best if we are contacted by an attorney representing you, who is empowered to decide and discuss what material and information will be made available for on-air use. Such story tips may be submitted with information about contacting all parties.
