CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WAVY) - Virginia Beach's own Gabby Douglas recited the Pledge of Allegiance before a crowd at the Democratic National Convention Wednesday night.

The 16-year-old gymnast, known as the "flying squirrel", is becoming no stranger to the spotlight since winning two gold medals at the London Olympics.

When asked if she was nervous, Douglas replied, "Not really. I'm just going to go out there, be myself and have fun."
